Post Oil Change Check Engine light - Ignition Control Module Posted by Fogline [Email] (#1152) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Fogline) on Mon, 13 May 2024 17:34:36 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
So - after being told many times to take his car in to get the oil changed, my son took his 2006 9 5 in to valvoline, where, of course, they talked him into a variety of services including a coolant flush, etc, etc. He's 17...
In any case, within a few days, his check engine light came on. I suspected a loose gas cap or something, but he went to the auto parts store where they diagnosed it with a bad "Ignition Control Module".
Interestingly enough, he was having issues with it started several months ago when we replaced the fuel pump and the crank position sensor, which were possible culprits. This only sort of helped apparently. I found out that he has been hitting it on the dash when the problem reoccurs and then it starts ( by the way - cranking, but not starting).
So - 2 obvious questions -
1- Could this problem be from someone mucking around under the hood knocking something loose at the oil change place?
2 - I am not finding an "ingition Control Module" available. I see the ignition cassette kit - is this what they mean? Seems like it should be a plug and play solution?
Thanks for any guidance.
Cheers!
